This study compares fluoxetine and naltrexone for treating compulsive sexual behaviour disorder, which involves difficulty controlling sexual urges and behaviours that cause distress or interfere with daily life. Eighty participants received one of the medications for eight weeks, followed by six weeks without treatment. Symptoms decreased in both groups, but neither medication showed significantly greater overall improvement at eight weeks. The timing of symptom changes and the types of side effects differed between the groups. The findings are limited by the short follow-up period, the absence of a placebo group, and a sample consisting of 79 men and one woman. The researchers emphasize individualized treatment decisions and the need for further research on long-term outcomes.
